"M.S.D. prevention" workshop

What are MSDs?

MuscularSkeletal disorders are frequently associated with biomechanical demands, due to movements that are repetitive and/or binding.

Although the workspaces are often ergonomically designed, employees often find themselves working hours in a row repeating movements or being frozen on their work tool.

The fact of continuing to use these sensitive body areas, without relieving them regularly, causes MSDs, which can go as far as sick leave.

"Working without pain is a fundamental right, especially if you want to be productive."

Who is the workshop for?

To professions whose employees:

  • perform repetitive, restrictive movements

  • sit at their work stations for a long time

  • work in less than optimal positions

  • work on construction sites, in the office, in workshops

To those who do not practice physical activity because :

  • lack of time

  • lack of motivation

  • lack of "know-how"

  • refrain from activities with colleagues

  • often on the move and varied schedules

  • less sensitive to their lifestyle

Ergonomic spaces…

..yes, but that's not all!

To avoid MSDs, relieve accumulated tensions, and to regenerate in a few minutes, the SECO department recommends regular breaks of 5 minutes to perform regenerative stretches of sensitive areas of the body.

To treat the cause of the problems it is essential:

  • stretch the stressed areas several times a day while breathing properly

Expected result: a few minutes, re-energize, with a regenerated body and relaxed mind.

How is a workshop held?

In the form of a one-hour workshop, Bien Ô Travail offers training to employees to learn how to perform regenerative movements, as well as deep breaths, from their work space / workstation. The target areas are:

Stretching is demonstrated with different versions depending on the limitations of each individual. Employees become autonomous to perform stretching according to their needs.

  • neck

  • head

  • eyes

  • breathing

  • trapezoids

  • shoulders

  • elbows

  • wrists

  • hands

  • vertebrae

  • lower back

  • hips

And after the workshop,

how does it continue?

An illustrated office calendar-like desk booklet with 13 regenerative movements is handed to employees. Placed on one's workspace, it guides the employee to eliminate or relieve physical pain.

This booklet, a real well-being tool, is listed by body areas, which suffer from sedentary postures and repetitive movements creating these micro musculoskeletal lesions.

According to the corporate spirit, a voluntary “team-leader” can offer “one-minute-energy breaks” to colleagues in the workspaces.
